New blow for Facebook, as hackers took advantage of a security breach and managed to steal personal information from 267 million profiles on the social network, which are sold on the dark web for just $ 600.

The news was announced by researchers from the Cyble platform, who proceeded with the purchase of the package in order to study their authenticity and the way they were intercepted. The information includes names, email addresses, Facebook IDs, dates of birth, and phone numbers, but not password s. However, the clever ones could take advantage of all of the above to run phishing campaigns via email or SMS in order to steal users’ passwords.

So far, Cyble researchers have not been able to locate the source of the leak, however, they suspect a third-party API that communicates with Facebook. It should be noted that the majority of 267 million accounts come from the United States.
