Today is a big day for Honor, as Huawei’s subsidiary has officially unveiled the Honor 30 series, which includes three models in line with the top of the series Huawei P40. These are Honor 30, Honor 30 Pro and Honor 30 Pro +, which all support 5G networks and of course come without Google Mobile Services.

The base model of the series comes with a flat-screen of 6.53 ” FHD + OLED and a hole in the upper left corner for the 32MP f / 2.0 front selfie camera. At the back we see the same camera module as the Huawei P40, ie a rectangular frame in the upper left corner where there are four sensors: 40MP f / 1.8 Sony IMX600 + 8MP f / 2.4 wide-angle + 8MP telephoto + 2MP macro.

The hardware includes an octa-core Kirin 985 5G processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, an in-display fingerprint sensor, WiFi 6+, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, 4G, 5G, Android 10 operating system with Magic UI 3.1.1 and a 4000mAh battery with support for up to 40W.

Let’s first look at the differences between the two models. The Pro + version has a screen with a 90Hz image refresh rate, supports 27W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging, is only offered with 256GB of storage (the 30 Pro also offers 128GB) and has different sensors on the rear camera.

Specifically, the Honor 30 Pro + has a main sensor 50MP f / 1.9 Sony IMX700 with size 1 / 1.28 ” and pixels 2.44μm, and comes with 8MP f / 3.4 telephoto (5x optical zoom) + 16MP f / 2.2 wideangle + 2MP macro ( 2.5cm).

On the other hand, the Honor 30 Pro is fitted with a 1 / 1.7 ” Sony IMX600 40MP f / 1.8 main sensor and comes with 8MP f / 3.4 telephoto (5x optical zoom) + 16MP f / 2.2 wideangle + 2MP depth.

Both, however, offer the new AI RAW function for multi-receiver merging with the help of Artificial Intelligence in a final result with the best possible detail and the highest dynamic range, which can be applied to all three main sensors and Portrait mode.

The common technical features of the Honor 30 Pro and Honor 30 Pro + are a 6.57 ” FHD + ‘OLED display with an oval hole on the top left where two selfie camera sensors are hosted (32MP f / 2.0 + 8MP f / 2.2 wide-angle), octa-core Kirin processor 990 5G, 8GB / 12GB RAM, in-fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, WiFi 6+, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, GPS, 4G, 5G, Android 10 operating system with Magic UI 3.1.1 and 4000mAh battery.

Prices and Availability

It has not been announced which versions will be released in Europe and when the corresponding launch will take place, but for the Chinese market the prices are as follows:

  • Honor 30 (6GB + 128GB) at 2999 yuan (approximately € 390)
  • Honor 30 (8GB + 128GB) at 3199 yuan (approximately € 415)
  • Honor 30 (8GB + 256GB) at 3499 yuan (approximately € 455)
  • Honor 30 Pro (8GB + 128GB) at 3999 yuan (approximately € 520)
  • Honor 30 Pro (12GB + 256GB) at 4399 yuan (approximately € 570)
  • Honor 30 Pro + (8GB + 256GB) at 4999 yuan (approximately € 650)
  • Honor 30 Pro + (12GB + 256GB) at 5499 yuan (approximately € 710)
